Our story

  • Ektaco was established 30 years ago as a start-up with an investor from Finland and high ambitions and risky prospects given the economic and political situation at the time. The company started the development and mass production of personal computers in Estonia and exported these to Finnish schools. As an added value we received state-of-the-art tools and equipment for our employees and could rely on financial stability.
  • The development of hardware and software for POS systems and the manufacture of hardware followed soon after, and some years later the development of access control systems was launched. The development and sale of CompuCash and the provision of support services continues to be one of the company’s core business lines. The fourth generation CompuCash POS system developed by Ektaco that supports browser use, wide variety of functions and a range of languages is currently used by more than 1,500 restaurants, shops and entertainment centres in Estonia. By today we have already launched the fifth generation POS system with mobile and web applications for office use. Ektaco’s product range has been well received on a number of foreign markets.
    Our portfolio now includes a work time management solution that supports digitalisation of production and can be integrated with the access control system and other corporate IT solutions like payroll accounting.

     

  • Over its 30-year history Ektaco has pioneered innovation with novel solutions by developing, among other things, the remote reading system for electricity meters, electronic solutions for managing Parliament sessions, public transport concepts, mobile parking solutions, POS systems for Eesti Post, and various production control systems. We have managed to avoid layoffs even in challenging economic environments by means of diversification and risk mitigation – the company has four lines of business.

    After the last financial crisis we have constantly increased our revenue and boosted investments in the development of proprietary software and support services. Our ambitions have grown year after year as our strategy has evolved. We have become a multinational enterprise both in terms of our staff and our markets and focused on two scalable products developed by our own team – CompuCash POS system and CompuAccess work time management system.
